I posted a while back the picture of my second caravan after purchase, when the first caravan was such a success....I decided to go for something completely different...I can never do the same thing twice..LOL...
I started to collect items and pile them up, before i even had started or was close to decorating. This is the part I love the most and it inspires me when i see all the goodies...LOL... there was alot of hard work in this one and being twice the size did take a fair bit longer.
Half way through the reno she "JUDE " was hired out on a photo shoot, in that moment Jude became famous.....
Jude became a calming place, the interior painted in resene Rice, including some of the vintage furniture she was fitted out with.
The inspiration behind this piece was HOME/OFFICE.... The idea that so many people work on a computer from home so why not tow your caravan to the beach and work from there....
A fold down desk at one end with an unobstructed view out the large window, a 1940's island bench with double sided cupboards and draws held everything it need and provided separation between the two spaces...
The other end of the caravan had a large double bed, consisting of two sets of davan bed draws fixed together to provide more storage, on top of this a custom mattress made so that it could be folded to turn into a couch....

11.30pm inspiration....
At 11.30 last night I had that crafty feeling of needing to create ...Unsure how many other people get it !!! needing to make something and finish it !!!Usually really late at night..... I had an inspirational picture from a mag on my cell and went to the fabric cupboard ( ummm ok not cupboard ~ wall unit ) and perused the rows of color sorted fabrics...I am lucky enough to have a PA who sorts things like that out ~ me I tend to jumble them all up... I had just acquired some divine red with white spots canvas in the mail so this was a starting point.....well it all came together rather quickly and before i new it the lounge had two more new cushions....Haven't decided to keep or sell yet...

Vintage Lolly Jars
Saw this picture of these very blue cool lolly jars (left picrture) and decided to do some of our own (left picture) ~ but with our twist on them. We found these cool old square jars at a little op shop (one side of jar has a very vintage floral pattern on it~very cool !!). We then attached these very retro knobs and some cool silver candle stick as the bases ! I absolutely love how ours turned out ~ hopefully more to come, stay tuned !!
New Caravan Project
This is our 1st Caravan project that sold a few weeks ago - it got an amazing 19504 views. For more pictures (before and after) please go to the following link Firstnest Design Facebook. Like our face book page and follow our current projects and finished pieces.
Since our last caravan went so well we decided to do up another one !! Follow us to see how we are going with the project, will post weekly updates and photos.
Below is photos of the caravan how we brought it ~ believe me it will look nothing like this when we are done.
Below is pictures of the stuff we are collecting to do up the caravan. The last caravan we did in bright colour with a white base. This time we are still using the white base and using olive, blue and cream as accent colours. We are wanting to do a feature wall in the caravan but finding the right wall paper for such a small space has proved more difficult than expected. Any way check out the below photos of the goodies we have collected so far....more to come !

Padded Front Floral Draws
![]() |
| Finished Piece |
Our newest piece to come out of the work shop !! We got given these draws and they were in pretty bad condition. The fronts were all scratched up so a sand an paint really wouldn't of cut it this time. So we decided to do something different and cover these in fabric and pad them to give a bit of definition. I don't think they could of come out better in my opinion.
| Electric Staple Gun |
We bogged and sanded the drawers and base. The base we painted with 2x white undercoats and then 2x white top coats. They were then buffed with English wax for a soft to touch feel. The wax was brought at our local Panel and Hardware shop, they imported the wax from England. It is the best product we have found to give your furniture the best finish possible.
| Padding Front Of Draws |
To cover the front of the draws we cut foam the same size as the draw front and then then fabric a little bigger~about 4cm extra on all side to go around the edge for a clean finish, excess fabric can be cut off. We then used an electric staple gun as it is really tired and not much effort is needed. We then finished the piece with some old brass handles which were very romantic looking.
If you love this piece as much as we do these are currently for sale on Trade me ~ search members for firstnest
